Tales of Creativity and Play

Throughout this TED talk, Tim Brown inspired and made me reflect on a variety of points and ideas. The fact that as we grow older and into adulthood, we become more sensitive and afraid of our peers opinions and ultimately have a loss of freedom. However, this sense of playfulness, that is seen in children, overall helps us better our creative solutions. The definition of playfulness in an artistic perspective, is when someone has the ability to go and explore new things and alter their normal way of thinking. This can benefit creative thinking as it helps one gather new ideas and information from their environment and surroundings. For example, even something as small as the ability to use one's hands can expand one's creative thinking. Furthermore, by acting out a solution and recreating experiences is highly productive as by putting yourself into someone else's shoes and their perspective helps one create a successful outcome.

After some time reflecting this talk, it inspired me to broaden by creative thinking process by moving around, building small and quick prototypes and experiments in order to see what I can improve on. Moreover, I have also learned to prevent myself from feeling too worried about people's opinions on my own work and to follow my gut feelings.
